"I am a member of the Ute Mountain Ute tribe and was born in 1950 in Towaoc, Colorado. Growing up in a creative family, art has always been a part of my life and as far as I can remember have always been creating it. After graduating from High School, I attended both Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado and Haskell Junior College in Lawrence, Kansas to increase my knowledge of technique and expression for art. My wife and children have also been an inspiration to me and very supportive to become a professional artist.
I like to express myself as a “Traditional Contemporary Artist”. My work portrays my Native American culture background as well as the individual expression of my life views as an artist. I feel that I achieve a spiritual message through realistic imagery with the use of color, texture, and imaginative expression. Throughout the years I have passed these messages using sgraffito style incisions onto a ceramic medium and a variety of other medias. These other medias include acrylic on canvas, pen and ink drawings, and etchings on clay board. I am inspired to continue to create art with the natural beauty in everyday life and the gifts that it brings. Each day with a new rising sun is a blessing and one only has to open one’s eyes and look about with appreciation."
